Halloween Ends
Ten Second Review: Incredibly gory classic thrasher that actually keeps you on your toes even after all this time.
I have to be honest, I was sold on this film after the first scene. If the rest of the film had been pants I’d have still enjoyed the first scene and talked about it.
The plot is quite simple; Michael Myers is still lurking around Haddonfield. I don’t know that it needs much expanding on.
Reinventing the slasher film with every new release just isn’t possible. Sometimes you just have to do things that been done well. The latest entry to the Halloween series is not mind blowing, but it does what it does quite well. Yes, the dialogue is not phenomenal end to end, but the acting is good enough to sell it. Yes it is a bit gratuitous at times, but it builds tension in a way that makes the gore feel like a pay off at a climax rather than the only thing going on.
I always try to see a few horror films at a Halloween and I like there to be a range. For a good enough slasher, Halloween Ends is a safe bet this year.
