The Glass Onion: A Knives Out Story

The Glass Onion: A Knives Out Story

Ten Second Review: A worthy follow up to the delightful Daniel Craig led whodunnit.

Knives Out was a bit of surprise hit. An actually original film property filled with great performances, fun twists, an interesting style and character to spare. When a sequel was announced it seemed like it might be hard to get the lightening back in the bottle, but with a whole new cast and a whole new mystery, enter Benoit Blanc.

Billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) has sent out his yearly invite to his closet friends for a weekend at his island. They are all set to gather for a murder mystery game played out over their stay, but when disaster strikes, it will feel less like a game and more like a crime scene…

Another collection of great actors delivering fun and engaging performances. The jokes are funny, the story is a modern take on a classic format and you actually do keep guessing right to the end.

To give it its harshest criticism, knowing the style of the first one, you can’t help but second guess your first thoughts all the way through. You know it’s a whodunnit and you know how the format plays out, but it’s fun enough to forgive it for having you trying to guess what is and is not important in each scene.

Realistically, because the Knives Out series only reveals parts of conversations and then returns later to show more, there is no way to actually know every twist and turn that might be taken. It’s far better to sit back, relax and let it play out.

It’s only cinemas briefly but this will make a fun watch over the Christmas break with the older members of your family. It doesn’t need the big screen but it’s certainly worth your time so throw it on when you have time!
